A "leisure" type battery would be best, as these can be deeply discharged without damage. If most of your charging is at home, then I strongly suggest you get a 12V DC power supply unit also.

Owen, 12V batteries come in two categories the normal car type and what are known as leisure batteries for caravans and boats etc for powering tvs and other accessories. Both types are ok for modelling but with a car battery you have to take care to not continually deep cycle the battery ie take it down to fully discharged on a regular basis. The leisure types are designed with this deep cycling in mind. So if you plan to use a car type it's best to charge it regularly and wherever possible avoid running it down to fully discharged.

good idea is to buy 1x 3/4S lipo around 3-4000mAh - keep it charged in the car - when you discharge your car battery then you have something to charge it up Very Happy (yes - I charge my car battery with my battery charger out of LIPOs Very Happy )
I run my charger (Icharger) on the field out of 4S lipos 3000mAh - if I need to charge small lipos like 2S 300mAh for shocky or 3S 1300mAh combat lipos.
Scooter battery is also an option - but almost never big enough ....
