Saturday 7/7/18

2018-07-07, 21:07 by Gary M Jones

I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ Smile .

I've just been re-reading the description on this one again, and it's quite amusing:

"All prepared for impregnation"

Well, I like a good glider with an electric nose as much as the next person, but impregnating it? Hmmmm......

Im wondering now if I should have gone V tail ?
For: ready hinged and assembled. less drag. less landing damage potential
Against: Rudder usually less powerful. Can be fiddly to connect up.
DECISIONS!

The V tail version looks very similar to my 15 yr old Tomahawk. Carbon wing, gf fus etc etc. Funnily enough it has 057s in the wing after a recent change. Still on 35 MHz so will have to update it for the Orme

Thanks for your order Tim
T tail ? or classic ? Suspect

I'll have servos as well - but not at the moment and it will take some time as I'm focusing on a something else money wise investing Neutral
But I'll keep you updated on that if you wish.

Many thanks - I'm sure you/we will enjoy flying Hammers - Blejzyk is one of the best glider producer (in Poland) and doesn't cut corners.
PS. I've promised Mark I'll pop in to Orme for a maiden - so see you there on Hammer convention Smile

Just found the deets for the Tomahawk for those interested in antique planes!... Made by a short lived company, in the midlands somewhere iirc, called SlopeNutters...
Came as an artf - i.e.a kit! First flight March 1996. RG15 airfoil, Carbon wing, Balsa tailplane but I glassed them. GF fuselage with 1/4" ply spine for extra strength (Not that it needs it)
Gone through several sets of aileron servos and, as mentioned, 057s now fitted. Elevator is the original (might not be original) Hitec HS-300, Rx is Futaba FP-R107N on 35 MHz
Battery pack is the original 5 cell AA NiCd pack. Original capacity was 600 mAh, now 400 mAh so I'll probably replace. Current capacity tested a few months ago at 10 amps. Gone through several rx switches
Whole model is very robust and goes very well. Lots of accrued damaged to wingtips and LE of wing and tailplane... But nothing serious. Total flying hours must be in the many hundreds

Hi Tim - just to make sure - available versions are V and classic (inverted T)
"normal T" is not available for the Hammer -( I believe you could do it yourself anyway)
I sell the high version only of Hammer and future models.
Hinges are installed, all is sanded, shaped, servo holes are cut dihedral (depends of the model) is prepared.
He will send me some more pictures later - at the moment they work 7 days a week and he simply hasn't got the time (he has many pictures - but mostly with some other people who may not be happy to go public Wink )
I will have 1 extra set of V tail - so can send you both - classic and V - and you can send me back the one you like less - if that's any good for you .
