I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ Smile .

The UNEVEN Hand of the Law Empty The UNEVEN Hand of the Law

Post by Guest 2011-10-12, 09:40

Not wishing to hijack Maks thread I'll put this here. It's, sort of, about the same decline of society.
Get a coffee before reading; this is long (if it doesn't get pulled)
Well you'll like this; I've just had yet another experience of the UNEVEN hand of the law. Yesterday evening I had cause to speak to a member of a small group of children. The boy in question was scootering up my drive and near the cars. I went out on the balcony over the drive and politely but firmly said "please, do not come up my drive round the cars and stay off my property, thank you." They obviously didn't like this and remained in the immediate vicinity and Dee found it necessary to speak (no threats, no bad language etc) to the group whilst we were checking the tires on her car. This got a sarcastic reply from the only young girl of the group. I later had to speak to the boy again about a rude gesture he made to me. At all times I was polite but firm, no bad language, no threats and most certainly no force. A short while later the father of the girl (the one I had never spoken to) turned up whilst I was standing on the outside stairs leading to the front door of my house. I told him that I would speak to him if he stayed on the pavement and did not come on my property. He started to rant and shout that he was going to kill me and would not listen. He then stormed up the drive and half way up my front steps to an iron gate with spiked tops. All the time he was ranting and shouting that he was going to kill me and ignoring my repeated instructions to leave my property. Dee got between us and held the bolt of the gate closed stopping me from defending us (as best I could given that he was considerably younger than me) and also preventing him from coming any further. Dee narrowly missed being hit in the face with his fist and he continued shouting that he was going to kill me whilst repeatedly trying to get over the gate. Enough of this, there's lots more. But, the important points are that I did not talk to his daughter, swear at him or make any overtly aggressive acts and he obviously intended to carry out his threat or at the very least to cause serious harm to us. I am totally puzzled as to what caused his involvement and extreme outburst. We both believed this to be a serious and credible threat but did not call the police as 'least said soonest mended' but to take care in the days ahead. One of the other parents had rung the police as we had a visit and it was made very plain that I was being very strongly pressured. (the following is true and not exagerated at all) I was to do absolutely nothing no matter what any children did. They could come on my property, cause damage if they wished and I was to say and do nothing, not even a photo of them causing any damage for proof. I was also told that I was not to speak to the parents over any incidents. I was instructed to only ring the non emergency number and if it got answered and if anyone came round to let them deal with it, otherwise tough. When I raised the behaviour of the other parent it was just brushed aside.
As his wife is a police officer you would think she would give him better advice on the way to behave or perhaps it influenced the way the incident was dealt with. Who knows.
I don't believe I broke any laws or did anything wrong but I'm now told I must let myself be walked over and not even complain about it. What a sick society, breading a lack of respect and consideration for other people and their property. No wonder the whole lot is going to hell in a hand cart.
For those of you who think I was in the wrong are you really saying you would not (or be scared to) ASK a child not to scooter up your drive by your cars.
I awaite the response of my critics.

Yet another example of the world gone mad!

When I was a kid, if I had done anything like that I could expect to receive a clip round the ear from you - another one from my dad when I got home - and be frog marched round to your front door to apologise!

I must admit Dee and I are somewhat shell shocked with the way this man behaved and I think more so by the attitude of the police 'brotherhood'. I admit I can get testy, especially now I'm on the insuline, if my blood glucose gets too low. But, there is no way I would go storming up to someones front door repeatedly shouting I was going to kill then and then try to carry out my threats.

Allan, I know exactly what you are trying to say, & I empathise.
Unfortunately it's the people of my generation, the "Baby Boomers" and just after who are to blame because we allowed the standards of society to slip what with Flower Power & Left Wing do gooders Ect, and we are now reaping as we sowed!
By now there can be no doubt where my politics are but unless WE as a society pull together nothing will be done, there's strength in numbers! It's all very well voting of some romantic notion or ideal but we need a firm hand in control to bring the society back under control.
As for protecting what is yours ..... Yep, thats what I would do! Protect what's mine! It's easier to ask forgiveness than premission!
Even if you get sent to prison you will have SKY, internet and if you ask nicely they will probably allow you out to fly your planes!

A kid genuinely told me today......... and I quote:-
"Sir, you cant keep me in 10 minutes today at break time, its against my human rights not to be allowed time for a drink!"
Well, after I stopped laughing, I pointed out to him that our break times are 15 minutes long which was plenty of time for him to have a drink before his next lesson but I would take his concerns into consideration! - I kept the little turd in for 20 minutes at lunch time instead!

Problem is the culture today is one of a "everything for nothing - and I want it now" Everyone is looking for a fast buck and everyone knows their rights! If someone does something against them they just want to see what they can get out of it!

PMSL!, Razz
But all joking aside, there are a lot of lobby organisations out there! I have been quite active in "The peoples pledge" and two others which are a little right wing so best left instated here but the point is, STAND UP AND BE COUNTED!
I get sorely vexed at some of the guy's I drink with, they all stand round the bar and moan about, this, that and the other but never do anything about it! I asked them once, "When was the last time you went to your local counceller's workshops? (held in Holyhead every Saturday starting at 10:00 if anyone's interested.) or, lodged a complaint with the local MP?" Do you know what the anser was? "Never, whats the point?" Well, I'm afraid that that is the apothetic attudude which has contributed to the demise of our once world leading social order! No
Of course no one want's to return to "Victoriana" but As stated above, the younger generation (in the majority) want everything for nothing and they want it now! and it's US, the parents who started it! Ask the people of my generation what they had for Christmas! We had little (I don't want to turn this into "the young kids today wouldn't believe it" type of thing but I am as guilty as the rest, I wanted more for my Children than I had, so I (and my wife) made sure that Christmas (and Birthdays) were the biggest gift give away we could possibly manage and we felt good about it! But soon enough it became a contest between parents as to who would give their offspring the most and of course the kids loved it and it became the norm. Our Children grew up, and because we had educated them into this "must spend a fortune on the kids" attitude they thought it was the done thing but by now the children think it's their right and more importantly because there is no (or little) sacrifice made, the object of desire has no value! Without value things are worthless which leads me back to the original point. We place no value on society!
So, whats the answer?
All it takes for evil to triumph, is for good men to do nothing! - Edmund Burke
