Nightmare. You got an out of balance prop again Barnes? And, if it isn't out of balance, have you checked the balance of that cheap carbon spinner you are using?
You should buy teh SU26 back off me, £600 and it is yours.....

Re: Wednesday Evening 3.8.11
Did you get much vibration when the engine was running on the brand new bearings? Bearings rarely fail just because, there is always a reason for it, be it vibrations, a poor fit*, poor lubrication, skiddy balls** etc.
* that's a poor fit in the housing/crankshaft, not poor fitting by the marvellous chap who fitted the bearings
**the last thing in the world that you want, is skiddy balls. It's just not pretty....
You could always sell the Raven, and buy the SU26 off me. £601 and all you need to add, is a receiver.....

Re: Wednesday Evening 3.8.11
Nope was fine with the new bearings, about 10 flights fine then 3rd flight last night a shed load. as said Rich noted poor fit in the housings, having just done a DLE 50 or 55 he said they were much tighter.
So I belive my engine casting is a load of crap and Im now sulking about it and wondering how I can aford a new 50, possibly a 80/100 and move house. Never mind buying your old dog.

My old dog is a greyhound in disguise.....
We've just had an offer accepted on a new house too, so that is going to mean the SU26 really does have to go now, no messing or anything... What you could do, is buy the engine off me, I'll whip the radio out, and then sell the airframe on seperately.........
Once thing you can do to try and work around the poor castings, is bond the bearing in place with some retaining compound. It will make replacing it a pig in the future, but it my take up enough slack to sort the issue out. Or you could look at getting the castings remachined for a larger bearing and get the fit just right this time. That will depend on how much material is there for that though, and may mean a non standard bearing size (££££)

Tempted, what would you want for the engine? with and without the can and header?
M (who is also considering sticking with good old electricity)
P.S nice one on the house - We move on the 5th sept

Re: Wednesday Evening 3.8.11
Dunno really, I haven't got a clue how much they cost new....
We've got 28 days from today to exchange contracts, and then after that, who knows. We're in the hands of the solicitors now, so hopefully they are doing what they do, and not arsing around in the meantime.
