I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ Smile .

Landing Empty Landing

Post by Stubbsy 2011-05-24, 19:19

Quick question - when landing planes on phoenix I tend to get quite a bit of bounce across the landing strip. They arent dirty great big jumps more like gentle stone skips across a pond - trouble is these often end with a wing tip digging in or just an ugly looking landing!
Any tips for making my landings look a bit prettier? must be something im doing wrong!
Cheers all!

I'm sure someone with more knowledge will jump in here but in the mean time, just before the wheels touch down, feed in a little up elevator and try to strech the lenth of your landing by gently easing in more and more up with out opening the motor any more than you have it set at which is in effect stalling the wing and therefor making the plane sink onto the runway. The by-word is "gentle" on the up ele.
Give it go.
(I know how to do it in the Sim' just gotta do it up the strip! lol)

There was boer wrong with your landings at the field on Thursday Marty. Well, with the possible exception of the last one....

My method of landing works great. Aim for the ground, and try not to miss...
