I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ Smile .

I would like to say a big thank you to Tim for helping me with my new lathe and I appreciate the time you have spent instructing me :-). A true club sprite

cheers

I thought it was a little Peatol jobby. They are the same as teh Taig lathes in the US of A aren't they? Have you seen the little CNC conversions you can get from them Smile

Cheap stock. Hmmm. I don;t have access to much at work, as we farm teh majority of our manufacturing out to various companies. Ebay is surprisingly good for picking up offcuts of material like aluminium, that would normally be too small for most people, but perfect for a dinly little lathe like yours. Or, try ringing round a few fabricators/machine shops, and asking if they have a scrap bin that you can raid in exchange for a few beer tokens. That usually works Smile

Yes Andy it is made in the USA & my understanding it is a Taig. No I haven't looked into CNC conversion! I need to get my head around the lathe first the maybe look into something like this for the future !!

Thanks Andy, I just thought that your work might have loadsssssssssssss of stock !! I did buy some stock from Chronos Engineering.

All the useful bits of stock material tends to get pilfered quite quickly (not by me of course, honest!). Now if you had asked me before the last company I worked for kicked everyone out, I could have laid my hands on looooads of ally and steel offcuts, plates, bar, tubes, all sorts!

Chronos is good, but expensive for small bits.....

Let me know what you want and I'll check my scrapbox. I can also order stuff but not always very cheaply

Only just spotted this thread - hey ho. I have had my peatol lathe for as long as Andy as has been born - and although I only use it fairly lightly ( mainly just ali and brass to be honest ) its been reliable, and accurate enough for my purpose. Zaidy soon picked the idea up of using it, and I am sure we can all look forward to seeing loads of nicely "turned" out super dooper flybyless heads etc "turning" up at the field. Nice one mate....and no thanks I dont want the prototype butt plug - I know where its been for testing What a Face
