Wet field

Sat Nov 11, 2017 9:08 pm by Gary M Jones

Went to the field in the forlorn hope of someone being there.. not to be.

FIELD SECURITY .... The gate padlock issue seems to have been resolved with 'farmers' twine' !! This is now the only security & whoever has done the job has been to …

Quick question. if I were to bring my wild thing, while on the tow who would be on the sticks? Me as a student or the supervisor/instructor? what's the score with insurance?

You can treat it like a normal flight Marty. You can be on the sticks of the Wildthing, with someone supervising. The tug pilot would be flying the tug, obviously. Insurance wise, it is all covered, so long as you have someone supervising.

Anyway, you should be good to go for your A test at teh weekend, right? I've got an airframe under construction that you can fly for it Smile

It doesn't matter. It takes me approx 3 minutes to swap my TX over from mode2 to mode1 Smile

I always find razor wire is a bit fine for removing those stubborn bits of glass from between one's teeth....

For those interested we are going to meet Sunday 0800 at the Whistlestop cafe on the HTM Industrial Park for breakfast, it has moved from original place to somewhere else on the estate, although I don't know exactly, Mark will comment soon

Anyone using a Flair type nose release (bowden cable or piano wire with a ball on the end) will need to bring their own to attach to the towline, I have a towline but over the years seem to have lost ownership of all mine.

If you ain't got a release to suit your system then you won't get a tow

After what's been a basically crap day today I went down to the field this evening to help Rich check out his Wilga for tow duties tomorrow. All went well and the wind dropped to nothing and the sun adorned the field. We sat having a coffee chewing the fat and both regretting that we neither of us had a foamy with us to take advantage of the conditions. Things look good foe tomorrow
