I was at the field today between 14:00 & 15:00 all on my own , good flying too. There is a dead sheep along the fence line towards the gate from the pits, I saw the farmer so reported this to her. I hope no one had plans for a BBQ .

I did my first lot of stall Turnes on the Hawk and then the Trex
Set up the Hawk with more -ve for your next display. What a nice day.
Fingers crossed tomorrow is the same :-)

Re: 25/1/09 Sunday
I haven't checked it yet, but when I pulled it out of the mud, the servos were making twitching noise (possibly new servos required!) although I put it on on throttle hold just before impact
But will strip it tonight and have a good look

Looks like my Blade is out for tomorrow too, just changed the striped servo on cyclic and put 2 HS65MG`s on rudder (2 because i forgot to turn the gyro off Digi and fried the first, so another 21.99 gone just like that) got it all ready span it up and somthing is amiss in the gear train main gear spins like fook But no drive to the rotors
Not sure whats but and now cannot be arsed to strip to have a look

Re: 25/1/09 Sunday
Leigh will be setting off around 9.30 for a 10am start if the weather is nice I can stay until around 4pm
with a bit of luck my servos would have arrived by then for the blade 400, get it fixed and setup for the evening session.
Leigh have you got anything for indoor flying, small heli's or small fixed wing ? some of the lads booked a chapel hall for tomorrow night between 7-10pm. Play and quick drink after if you fancy it? Mark is coming.
All are welcome.
Regards
Zaidy

Ahhhh, I thought you were lucky!! I damaged two servos, but I ordered three. So if you are short of one you can replace it tomorrow evening just before we set off?
Let me know ??
Cheers

I know a man who can replace the fired bits in Hitec 65 servos, and turn them from bog standard ones, into nice little digital versions He might even be persuaded to do it for the cost of a pint or two, especially if you ask nicely
Also, sprag bearings (one way bearings) are very sensitive to dust and crap getting in them, especially in the small sizes. Some of the ones I specified in devices/products that I have designed only have a service life of around 25 hours before they need replacing. If you take it out, and give it a good clean in alcohol or similar, a dose of light oil, and they should be as good as new. If they are still sticking after that, you need a new 'un.
Cheers!

Re: 25/1/09 Sunday
A good thoery Andy, but by the time you strip it all down to access the bearing then clean it & rebuild it to find it's still f***ed you might as well spend the £5 & replace it anyway.
Re: 25/1/09 Sunday
plus its mark and that would involve many many tools, a modicum of patience and an ounce of skill hehe cant help it after watchin him struggle with the thing last night. id have stayed if i knew he was going to break it. poor mark.

Well, If we are going to do things properly, then I would just tell my workshop staff that the Heli needs servicing, and let them get on with it. However, looking at the possibility that I may be a bit more worse off than usual this year, I would look to save money where-ever possible
