Well, this is prototype #1 of the Ultra Mirco Yak55,

I intend on using all the gear out of the UM4 Site, the aim is to make a better flying/stronger plane.

Bear airframe weighs 15grm on this one as its 3mm depron, final versions will be 2mm, so that leaves me with around 15grm left for gear as all up weight needs to be around 30grm. (4 Site is 31grm)

Thanks to Andy for the CAD work and Rich for the cutting.

Should have it ready for Llysfaen on Tuesday for a maiden

Looks good in the flesh that does, I can't wait to see what kind of artistic masterpiece you come up when colouring it in! Wink

Just an idea, but if you want to try getting funky on everyone, how about going for a wing that is 3mm thick, made from three 1mm laminations? cut away a load of the internal layer, and you are back down to a weight that is only slightly more than a 2mm version, but has the strength and stiffness of a 3 layer version.

The Bent Air express layout should be winging its way over Wink

Anyone else fancy a funky foamy for indoor? provide me with a decent 3 view, tell me what wingspan/scale you want, and I can draw it up ready for cutting for a very reasonable fee Wink

Finaly got the Milled BBUM Yak55 flying in Llysfaen last night and it went pretty well.

I managed to get a couple of batts through her before Jem nicked it and tried his best to kill it. I got it flying resonably well in the tight hall will Upright harriers, rolling curcits, loops, bunts, stall turns, tourque rolls and split S'. She took a fair bit of abuse as well with myself Jem and Tim all "ariving" at various times in the evening.

Need to shave a few more grams off her somwere with some better milling to improve the flight envolope but for a start its seems pretty good, The roll authority is one area im very pleased with even at very slow speed.

Seems to be alittle slower than the 4site in general flying and thus abit more controlable, altough by the end of the night the controls were begining to go abit vauge as the main borad (that has the tail servos on) became loose

Overall a sucsess i reckon, Small hall 3d is the future!

After the sucsess of last week, Ive built MK2 this week.

Really gone to town on the milling, Im getting better at it (thanks George for the loan of the tool) managed to shed another 5grm of the weight Very Happy

Maiden tonight!

Due to a mix up somwere this Yak is slightly different to the first one, shorter moment arm and alittle smaller span, should be more nimble Wink

We must have mixed up cut files somwere along the line as this one is an exact mini of the RBBB Yak were the first was a Fancy Foam Yak

Well it flew and flew well.

I still find myself wanting more power though, not to much more just a little. KE is still strange but the rest is bang on, rolling curcits, loops, bunts etc etc all fine.

Then Jem had ago Rolling Eyes
